Nutrition
Nutrition is a critical part of health and development. Better nutrition is related to improved health, stronger immune systems, safer pregnancy and childbirth, lower risk of non-communicable diseases (such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease), and longevity.
Basic nutrition concepts to be aware of include:
- Portion distortion
- Reading Food Labels
- Nutrient Density
- Recommended amounts of macro and micronutrients
- Recommended limitations of sodium, sugar, and saturated fats
Most insurance plans cover visits with registered dieticians especially when there is a diagnosis of either obesity, Type II Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease and other chronic illnesses.
